What is Kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa, kakuam, ketum, biak) is a tree that grows in the southeastern part of Asia and belongs to the species Rubiaceae. In terms of biochemical properties, kratom is similar to the coffee tree. Also, plants similar to Krat are actively used for medical purposes, its leaves contain alkaloids similar in action to opium, so it is used as an analgesic.

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tree reaching a height of 3-15 m, it has oval-shaped leaves 20-40 cm long. This plant blooms with small spherical flowers of yellow and orange/red color, in which the seeds appear. Kratom is widespread in Thailand, Malaysia, and the islands of Oceania - there are the best conditions for its growth.
